Professional Biography

Tim holds a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Middlebury College. After graduating, he was awarded a Fulbright Student Grant to conduct ethnographic research on Chinese elementary schools and transitioned to working as Assistant Director at Middlebury School in China: Hangzhou at the conclusion of his grant. Upon returning to the U.S., Tim established the Chinese language program at Greensboro Day School and managed summer enrichment programs for high school students from around the world at Yale's Office of International Affairs before taking on his current role at Yale as Assistant Director in the Office of Fellowships and Funding. Tim is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Education at Michigan State University.
My first experience abroad - a summer program in Taiwan that I participated in right after graduating from high school - had a lasting impact on my life. It inspired me to learn a new language and kindled a desire to connect with different people and places. It led to a semester and, later, to four years of life in China, as well as trips to various countries around the world.

Countless conversations with people from backgrounds unlike my own, often times without a common native language, have helped me understand the importance of keeping an open mind and listening to others. These interactions have consistently challenged me to think critically about and reflect on my own beliefs about everything from family and relationships to international and domestic politics.

Through my work, I aim to inspire others to immerse themselves in new environments and connect with a diverse  range of people so that they, too, might have significant and life-changing experiences abroad.
